The worlds of tennis and beach tennis collided in an exciting exhibition at the Delray Beach Open, where ATP pros Sriram Balaji and Micky Lawler showcased their adaptability by stepping onto the sand for a thrilling beach tennis showdown. But they weren’t alone—two of the top beach tennis players in the U.S., Thomas McLeod and Armando Ghinaglia, joined the action, proving that beach tennis is here to stay and grow in the country.

A Fusion of Two Dynamic Sports

Tennis players transitioning to beach tennis is no small feat, but Balaji and Lawler took on the challenge with style. With the agility, quick reflexes, and racket skills needed in both sports, they adapted quickly to the fast-paced and high-energy nature of beach tennis.

Alongside them, Thomas McLeod and Armando Ghinaglia demonstrated why they are leading figures in the beach tennis scene. Their precise shots, acrobatic plays, and deep knowledge of the game gave the ATP players a real taste of the sport.

Building the Future of Beach Tennis in the U.S.

This event wasn’t just about fun—it was a statement. McLeod, Ghinaglia, Michelle Bos, and Chip McLeod are spearheading efforts to make beach tennis a major sport in the U.S. Their dedication to growing the game through events, training, and grassroots development is paving the way for more players to get involved.

Adding to this momentum, Beach Tennis Maryland and I Do Beach Tennis have partnered up to bring amazing projects to life across the U.S. Together, they are working on new events, development programs, and opportunities to make beach tennis accessible and exciting for players at all levels.
